Hello Weather Watchers!

Another DRY front will move through today causing a wind shift across most of Western and Central sections of the State. NW winds will usher in dry air from the Northwest.

WE DO HAVE REPORTS OF SOME ICY CONDITIONS AROUND THE KC METRO THAT WILL END SHORTLY AS TEMPS RISE ABOVE FREEZING BY 10-11AM

The cool front will NOT affect today’s high temps as they will be much warmer than they were yesterday PLUS the return flow ( South/Southwest winds ) return overnight TONIGHT!!

Sunday, STRONG SSW Winds will usher in DRY air from the desert SW making for CRITICAL FIRE CONDITIONS!

THIS FIRE RISK WILL EXIST ALL WEEKEND BUT ESPECIALLY THIS AFTERNOON AND DEFINITELY SUNDAY AS SSW WINDS CRANK UP TO 25-35mph and gusty.

EXTREME FIRE DANGER COULD BE PRESENT SUNDAY IN RENO, RICE, ELLSWORTH AND SALINE COUNTIES–IF YOU SEE ANY SMOKE, REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY BY CALLING 9-1-1 AS THERE SHOULD BE NO BURNING!!

The Flint Hills and Southeast KS has the potential to for moisture next weekend. This is a storm system that we expected to return based on our Long Range forecasting technique. Here are the dates we told you to save- Feb 24-25.

This event could possible be one of our FIRST Severe Weather days in the Southern Plains – OK and N Texas. Let’s see how it evolves.

We also have the potential for decent rainfall in far SE KS around the 20th- as a fast moving piece of energy moves through.

Unfortunately our biggest threat in Kansas will be FIRE threats!

We will keep you updated
