This impressive system is beginning to take shape – the upper Low is over the Four Corners while the Surface Low will begin to intensify in SW KANSAS- let’s look at the Regional Surface Conditions:

At the surface you can see the Cyclogenesis beginning- Low Level moisture is streaming in from the South. It is over running a Warm front causing fog in North Central KS while FREEZING FOG/DRIZZLE IS STARTING in NW Kansas….A Surface Low is located in SW Kansas and will continue to strengthen rapidly in the next 12 hours- can you see the counterclockwise circulation?

As we stated in the headline, conditions will RAPIDLY deteriorate my mid-afternoon from West to East. We are forecasting WHITEOUT CONDITIONS IN THE AREAS FROM CO BORDER TO WAKEENEY BY DUSK.

Expect travel interruptions on I-70 and I-80 late today through Monday noon.
