Happy May Day!

The latest model run show multiple rounds of showers and Thunderstorms Monday through Thursday. It looks to us like the main threat will be heavy rain. The upper level dynamics needed for Severe Weather are just not present for a High end Severe weather event. Not to say we won’t see some Severe Weather, we are not expecting a significant outbreak.
Here is the HPCs moisture model from this weekend through Thursday morning.  THIS WILL CHANGE – it just shows the potential for rainfall over several days. 1-3″ looks possible over 2-3 days.

On May 1st,  we usually feel that Spring  is here with rich gulf moisture streaming North, making us feel sticky, giving Mother Nature the fuel for Thunderstorms. That moisture is no where near the Central Plains. Look at the current observations.

Dewpoints in Central Texas aren’t even in the 60s which is typically needed for the fuel for Severe Storms.

We will begin to see moisture return this weekend into early next week as Southwest flow develops, models are not showing dewpoints above 60…but getting very close. Enjoy it while you can as one of these days the Dog days of summer will be upon us.

80s this weekend… Increasing Southerly winds… SLIGHT chance of storms by Sunday afternoon.
