Let’s jump right into it. Freezing rain has continued most all night and will continue for the next few hours. With ADDITIONAL ICING THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING.

Thousands are without power on the South Central, Central and Northeastern part of the State

Here is the current radar that show a stream of freezing rain from South Central to Northeast Kansas.

  
The Westar outage map doesn’t show totals but we can view them county by county.

Geary County has 6500 customers without power, Reno County nearing 2000 customers with reports of multiple poles broken in both areas.

Make sure you report your outage- DO NOT ASSUME IN AN ICE STORM THAT OTHERS ARE ALSO WITHOUT SERVICE.

Call 800-544-4857 to report your outage.

They do provide estimated times for restoration- this could take a few days to get everyone back on based on current and climbing outages.

Multiple power lines are down across roadways- DO NOT drive over those lines-TREAT THEM AS LIVE!

Law Enforcement is asking you to not travel – stay off the roadways.

If you must get out use arterials- side streets are treacherous.

We have not heard of Shelters opening- we will keep you posted.
