NO BLIZZARD, NO ARCTIC AIR, WHAT A WILD CHANGE!!
Hello Weather Watchers!!
We were anticipating Blizzard Conditions with some of the COLDEST AIR of the season…NOT NOW
We were anticipating temps on Sunday in the teens, not now. Temps should be in the 40s in Central KS Sunday. The Arctic Air will not make it as far South as we though and every model was predicting.
We will get into the details about what changed tomorrow afternoon.
Let’s look at the timing of and what we are expecting Friday- Saturday-Sunday.
Storm begins to take Shape – The Low moves East out of the Panhandle into North Central OK.
Heavy snow with strong wind in NE KS – Cold front moving NW to SE.
Midnight Friday night:
Heavy snow in Northeast KS with some travel issues likely.
Lighter snow in Central and Southwest Kansas.
Notice how fast the surface Low is moving East… It is located in NW Arkansas late Friday night.
THE SYSTEM IS TOTALLY OUT OF THE AREA BY 6AM Saturday AM.
Cold air will filter in, but not SINGLE digit cold air and negative wind Chills!!
To those going to the Chiefs AFC Championship game – EXPECT TEMPS AT GAME TIME AROUND 32!!
A HUGE DIFFERENCE FROM WHAT WE WERE FORECASTING JUST 2 DAYS AGO!
Expect temps in the Upper 20s to Lower 30s with a South wind at 5mph – Divine intervention??? The way things changed and so rapidly…. We will leave that to your faith!
You can see the Arctic Air ( White color ) sticking around the Great Lakes area over Southern Canada.
Look at the AO- it went from being Forecast being very negative to neutral.
This is today’s AO index:
This was the index just a few days ago- IT NEVER WENT NEGATIVE!!
We will dig into this with the upper air energy and show you what happen.
We know many of you want snow. Just remember we have lots of Winter left with additional chances of snow.
We will update you around 10AM Fri.
