The update from overnight- if you read our previous forecast last night we predicted the expansion of the Blizzard Warning :

McPherson & Reno counties have been added to the BLIZZARD WARNING – the most significant impacts to those areas will begin around 11am through 3PM. EXPECT HIGH SNOWFALL RATES, Hazardous Travel -STRONG NNW Winds gusting to 45-50mph…You will possibly experience THUNDER-SNOW

THE GREATEST IMPACTS FROM THIS BLIZZARD WILL BEGIN SHORTLY IN SW KS AND SPREAD NE INTO NORTH CENTRAL KS WHERE UP TO 10-12″ of SNOW is possible ALONG WITH 50-55mph Wind gusts….

This system will move fairly quickly but will be extremely potent!! Snowfall rates approaching 3″ per hour are possible. THUNDERS-NOW OR CONVECTIVE SNOW IS POSSIBLE AS WELL!

Once your winds change to the NNW – they will RAPIDLY INCREASE….TEMPS WILL FALL AND SNOW WILL INCREASE IN INTENSITY….

PLEASE KEEP US POSTED ON WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING TODAY.

I-70 AND MANY OTHER ROADWAYS WILL LIKELY CLOSE TODAY – for a period of time… WE WILL TRY AND KEEP YOU POSTED.

The EASTERN 1/3 of the State should not have significant impacts from this storm… THAT COULD CHANGE – STAY TUNED!!
