SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE TONIGHT…Much Colder and VERY Windy Easter Sunday..Winds gusting to 60+mph
Hello Weather Watchers!
The SPC has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 11PM.
The current Temps and Dewpoints show very Warm air across the SE 1/3 of KANSAS with MOISTURE being pulled Northwest- this can be seen as a developing Dry-line heads Northwest from a Medicine Lodge/KC line. You can see this feature on the radar.
In 30 minutes this boundary has moved NW from around Haven to just NW of Hutchinson. You should be able to feel the difference as surface moisture increases. Areas Southeast of this boundary have chances for WIDELY SCATTERED STORMS through the evening.
A STRONG COLD FRONT will move through Sunday morning dropping temps from the 50s and 60s in Central KS around 9AM to the upper 30s by mid afternoon with NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING UPWARDS OF 60-65mph!!!
If you are in the Watch area tonight…Be on the lookout for Hail up to the size of Golf Balls and Gusty winds. The Tornado threat is VERY LOW!!
The biggest risk for tomorrow will be very gusty non-storm related winds. These winds will begin in the morning and last through mid evening.
A SIGNIFICANT TORNADO OUTBREAK IS LIKELY TOMORROW ACROSS THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND THE MID SOUTH.
Happy Easter and stay safe!!!
