Hello Weather Watchers!

We are seeing the Storms begin to form in the High Plains of Western NE. We have had confirmed reports of land spouts/weak tornadoes over the last hour or so.

The steering currents will take these storms East into Central NE and Northern KS then SSE through the Flint Hills.

Here are the upper level winds that will be guiding the storms.

By the time the storms reach Kansas they will be a big complex – WIND will be the biggest threat as well as torrential rainfall as we have incredibly high Dewpoints or moisture available…PWATs running very high- see below:

Two models show storms developing along outflow boundaries. If that occurs Storms will develop further West of the main complex – let’s see what a few of the models are showing:

The image above shows development along an outflow boundary in South Central NE – then it rushes South into Central and South Central KS….

This is an outlier but should not be discounted as we have seen this scenario on 2 of our models.

Confidence is High for Storms East of I-135 and Moderate for areas West of I-135 to the US 281 corridor. We will have to see how things play out.

THE NEXT DANGEROUS AND SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENT WILL BE A MULTI-DAY HEAT WAVE LASTING AT LEAST THROUGH THE 22nd, possibly longer.

We will have more on that tomorrow… please have your AC’s ready!! If you don’t have AC’s you might make arrangements to get fans as we will not be cooling down much in the evening hours- this will likely be a deadly heatwave across much of the Central and Southwest US where temperatures and heat indices will be in the 100-115 (or higher) range.

PLEASE STAY TUNED!!
