Good morning Weather Watchers….

We want to provide you with a heads up that a few Supercell Storms with Large Hail & Tornadoes are possible this afternoon across the Central 1/3 of Kansas…

If your kids are at daycare or at a day camp please make sure they have plans in place for Severe Storms and a way to get warnings.

If your kids are home alone, make sure they have a way to get warnings between 1pm and 8pm.

Here is the HIGHER THREAT AREA:

TIMING:

Look for a Tornado Watch this afternoon by EARLY AFTERNOON.

Expect a very warm and muggy day- Highs around 85-90. Dewpoints in the mid 60s across Central Kansas.

Scattered individual storms should begin developing by 1-2pm. This storm mode is what is increasing our Tornado threat.

** THESE ARE SIMULATIONS **

Notice how there are individual storms instead of a line of storms- the individual storm mode supports large hail and Tornadoes.

PLEASE STAY WEATHER AWARE

Why is this occurring: a piece of energy in the mid-levels of the atmosphere will be spinning across the State from West to East. A cool front will also be moving Southeast across the State. Both of these features will cause lift and vertical motion.

Questions- PLEASE ASK.

We will likely have a team out in Central Kansas to provide updates this afternoon.
