DRIVE CAREFULLY… ON ELEVATED ROADWAYS AND UNTREATED SURFACES

What an incredibly powerful storm system!

Here is the current radar:

Thunderstorms are forming from Pratt to Hutch to Emporia…we can hear Thunder at our Hutch offices.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEASTERN AREAS OF THE STATE AS WELL AS NORTHERN OKLAHOMA.

Large Hail will be the biggest risk… A TORNADO is possible for areas Southeast of the Turnpike.

The surface low is over North Central OK…

The upper level energy is over SW New Mexico… that is the energy that will bring Eastern section the Snow from around 4AM Sat through Mid-day.

Here are the current time frames when we think things will get active..

The main impulse arrives overnight -here is what we are anticipating by 7AM

A FREEZING RAIN EVENT may develop from late this morning into this evening across Central KS… .1-.3 tenths of an inch will cause travel issues and the potential for power issues as NNW WINDS begin to crank up to 25-35mph…
