SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON INTO EVENING -CENTRAL & EASTERN KANSAS!
A outflow boundary/cold front will make its way SE late this afternoon.
The areas we are most concerned about for LARGE HAIL/70mph+ WINDS & A COUPLE TORNADOES ARE IN THE AREAS OUTLINED BELOW:
The THREAT AREA:
THE POTENTIAL FOR LARGE HAIL… Any storm that develops will have the potential for VERY LARGE HAIL… not everyone will see it but the potential exists:
The potential exists for a few Tornadoes:
The low level jet out of the SW should intensify around 7-8pm and help intensify storms – the window for the Very Large Hail should be a couple of hours as the storms begin to cluster… SIGNIFICANT WIND GUST OF 70mph or GREATER then become the main threat after the Storms congeal into an MCS late in the evening.
Take a look at a recent radar image- the lines are called “gravity waves”. They indicate low level instability.
Here is an image of the current CAPE values-Convective Available Potential Energy – showing 4000-5000 j/kg…A VERY UNSTABLE atmosphere:
Storms that form will have almost continuous Lightning and VERY HEAVY RAINFALL!
Look for a Tornado Watch later this afternoon..
WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED…
