Good morning Weather Watchers!

The system we have been watching is now in New Mexico- here is our forecast track projection:

The Low will move rapidly NNE, reaching the KS/NE border by noon Thursday.

Here are current radars:

Southern Plains

Central Plains

This area is Round #2 and will increase in coverage and intensity throughout the afternoon- heavy rain likely.

This was Round #1 that developed in Northern OK/ Southern KS around 5AM

Current Conditions:

National Forecast Map

We are expecting 1″-3″ of Rain over the Eastern 1/2 of KS.

MINOR RIVER/CREEK FLOODING is a concern as the ground is frozen and can’t absorb the heavy moisture expected over a short period.

The Cow Creek is already FLOOD WARNED IN RICE/RENO counties from the rainfall overnight.

Look for additional Flood Advisories/Warnings throughout the day into evening as the Storm system gets closer.

The Central part of KS will get dry-slotted stopping the rainfall preventing more extensive rainfall.

We will explain the “dry slot” in a later post…
