SLICK ROADS TODAY!! Update on weekend storm system…
Good morning Weather Watchers!
Be careful driving today into tonight especially over the Eastern 1/2 of Kansas.
Freezing Drizzle/Sleet will occurr in the areas of purple where a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued. EXPECT SLICK ROADS AND WALKWAYS!!
Further South – freezing fog is the issue this morning
ASSUME ALL OVERPASSES, BRIDGES AND ALL ELEVATED SURFACES ARE SLICK UNTIL TEMPS ARE ABOVE 32 degrees.
Please let us know if you experience SLICK ROADS this morning so other know specific areas are travel troubles.
As sleet/freezing drizzle/icing begins this afternoon into evening – drive/walk carefully.
This weekends storm system appears to be developing in the Panhandles as a more positively tilted system which limits moisture fetch and the storm will be a quick mover….another limiting factor
AT THIS TIME WE DO NOT THINK SNOW AMOUNTS WILL BE EXTREMELY HIGH OVER MOST OF KANSAS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF NORTHEAST KANSAS WHERE MODERATE TOTALS SEEM REASONABLE…
We do believe there will be BLIZZARD CONDITIONS across parts of Kansas Friday night into Saturday morning. Snow will quickly end West to East Saturday morning…
THIS DOESN’T APPEAR TO BE A HIGH IMPACT STORM EXCEPT FOR OVERNIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY WHEN BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE.
COLD ARCTIC AIR AND DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS WILL BE A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE SATURDAY-MONDAY.
These are our thoughts this morning after new data from overnight.
We will provide an more detailed update later today… Stay tuned…
Have a good day and be weather aware!
