Hello Weather Watchers! The track of Sunday’s storm puts most of Kansas in the “Dry Slot”. That is Dry Air that is pulled in from Desert Southwest. Dry Air lowers humidities which puts some areas at risk for FIRE WEATHER.

Let’s take a look at how the storm will develop and it’s forecasted track.

Confidence in this forecast track is Moderate.

It starts to get its act together ( strengthen ) Sunday afternoon as the Low begins to move out onto the Plains- as this occurs it will begin to draw in moisture from the Southeast, Dry Air from the Southwest and Cold Air from the Northwest. This all occurs because of the Counterclockwise circulation or spin of the Low.

Here is the timeframe for the System- THIS IS WHERE NORTHWEST/WEST CENTRAL KANSAS will likely see some snow…2-3″

This timeframe is when North Central Kansas could see some Snow…2-4″

Besides the Snow on the back side of the system we could see a few SEVERE Thunderstorms over Arkansas and Southeast Missouri.

THE TX/OK Panhandles as well as WESTERN OK and parts of SW and South Central KS will see a High FIRE DANGER Sunday.

You can see the evolution of the Storm as it moves off to the Northeast and continues to strengthen.

QUESTION OF THE DAY – ANSWER IT RIGHT, YOU COULD WIN A WEATHER RADIO!!

As the storm matures – what is the meteorological term for that strengthening/maturing?? We have used that term many times…

Hint: First book of the Bible….

Put your answer in the comments…

Here is where the Storm is Monday morning- Northeast KS could see some Snow flurries as the wrap around moisture or the comma-head moves through.

We could also see additional Thunderstorm activity in the MID-South….

Hope this helps you plan your weekend….

Expect a nice day TODAY, SATURDAY temps could reach the 60s in Western KS..
