Thunderstorms….lots of them! But first– HEAT
Good Tuesday morning Weather Watchers!!
The HEAT is on today and especially Wednesday when we think someone in Central KS will hit 100!!
Thunderstorms begin Wednesday night and continue for Thursday night and Friday. The potential for Severe Weather increases Friday.
A front is forecast to stall Sat -Monday with Thunderstorm chances for many areas.
Here is the most recent rainfall prediction through next Monday. Heavy rainfalls look possible as a very tropical airmass will be in place-
The precip accumulation map is showing 8″ in spots.
The Precipital Water values approaching 2″ ( colored in yellow) is tropical like moisture. That is a good indication of torrential rainfall at the surface.
We mentioned Severe Weather potential for Friday- for now, as with all summer type storms, Large Hail and Strong winds are the main threats. If we get some stronger wind shear the Tornado potential would increase some–NOT EXPECTING A BIG TORNADO EVENT!!
If you have ball tournaments this weekend, outdoor weddings, family events or just headed to the area lakes you will want to stay tuned and have alternative plans.
The Climate Prediction Center has issued a forecast for Heavy Rainfall from 6/11-6/14 for parts of the State.
Have a great day everyone!
