TWO WINTER SYSTEMS….OUR THOUGHTS BASED ON NEW DATA…
Normal temperature for this date across Central KANSAS are 65 for the High Temp and 42 for the Low Temp… over the next few days OUR HIGHS WILL BE 10-15 degrees BELOW WHAT ARE LOWS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE…OR 35-40 degrees BELOW OUR AVERAGE HIGHS- SEVERAL RECORDS COULD BE IN JEOPARDY!!
( REMEMBER THESE TEMPS WEATHER WATCHERS, ITS ONE OF OUR CLUES )
Radar is currently indicating a Moderate band of Snow moving SW to NE across Southwest into North Central KS.
Additional MIXED Precip is beginning to show up East of a Manhattan to Emporia line. That is moving ENE as well.
As you see on the radar – we do have ground truth from the Mping network that Snow/Graupel is falling.
This system will work its way out of the area overnight.
WE ARE NOT ANTICIPATING ANY TRAVEL ISSUES WITH TODAY/TONIGHTS SYSTEM AS IT IS MOVING QUICKLY OUT OF THE AREA.
Tuesday: Things should start out cool with highs in the 40s
Things do not begin to change until LATE Tuesday night.
Snow should begin to develop and fall around late Tuesday night or very early Wednesday.
HERE IS WHERE WE THINK THE AREAS OF GREATEST SNOW WILL FALL.
This is why….
Temps at the 10,000 level are ANTICIPATED to be above freezing with the lower levels below freezing … that will cause an area for freezing rain or MIX versus ALL SNOW.
THE FORECAST CAN AND WILL LIKELY CHANGE SOME DEPENDING ON TEMPS IN THE UPPER LEVELS–AS SEEN ABOVE!
1″-4″ of Snow is possible in the areas where we think snow will occur.
Travel conditions could get sloppy on Wednesday!!
HALLOWEEN LOOKS COLD WITH SOME SNOW ON THE GROUND IN SOME AREAS –
