The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Mesoscale Discussion for FREEZING RAIN development as the surface temperatures continue to Fall into the upper 20s.
They noted that below freezing temperatures are trailing the front by around 100 miles which is why we are now seeing conditions for Freezing rain develop.

Warm air advection between the 850-700mb levels of the atmosphere are providing the moisture that will continue to stream North/Northeast.
The areas to be affected initially will be the area circled in blue.

The Amount of freezing precipitation expected is .05″-.10″per hour – this activity is expected to last for several hours.

As this event gets going- Streets and overpasses will become slick and hazardous.

Ice will begin to accumulate on trees and power lines. Icing over .25″ can cause tree damage and the potential for power interruptions. The more accumulation the greater the potential for problems….ESPECIALLY WITH NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING TO 30mph.

Questions, just ask….
