Hello Weather Watchers!

Topeka NWS office sent up their balloon and the the information they got(called a sounding) showed that the atmosphere was moderately unstable but was still capped….

We should begin to see storms forms in the next hour or so.

Storms that form ahead of the front have the potential to be the most severe. The potential for Tornadoes still exists and will likely exist well after dark.

The OVERALL Severe threat has decreased as we didn’t get the initiation that was expected ahead of the front.

This is the Severe threat through around 1am.
Here is the Satellite image showing the storm current ongoing over IA, SE NE and into NE Minnesota.
It looks like we will see a line of storms form along the front with

A secondary area of precip associated with cooler and dryer air looked to initiate a secondary line of showers and storms.

This is what models are showing for around 4am…,
Keep us posted- if you see initiation   occurring-let us know where

######NOT EXPECTING THE SIGNIFICANT WIND EVENT IN NORTHEAST KS######

Heavy rain, Hail, Strong Winds and a brief Tornado are possible as Storms develop. The tornado threat decreases significantly if storms line up or become linear instead of multi-cellular.
