Good afternoon Weather Watchers…A weak cool front is intersecting KS from Northeast to Southwest. Ahead of the front HOT & VERY HUMID CONDITIONS exist providing plenty of CAPE or high octane fuel for the storms that can develop.

Here is a current outlook:

Current satellite showing cumulus development

Here is what the radar looks like:

Golfball to Baseball hail reported in Westmoreland and Wamego… This cell is moving SE – towards Western Topeka/Auburn

On the North side of storm looking South

Here are our current conditions –

Dewpoints in the mid 70s ahead of the front… very moist unstable conditions exist.

Wherever you have North winds your storms chances are slim to none.. the best chances for SCATTERED Severe Storms are along and East of the KS Turnpike. An area of scattered storms are possible later this evening from Coldwater to Kingman – this is a SLIGHT CHANCE but we need to mention it.

Here is the Storm Prediction Centers outlook:

A T-Storm Watch has been issued for Northeast and East Central areas of Kansas until 8 PM- expect an extension or an additional Watch further South later as additional storms develop.

Here is the image of the STRONG HIGH that is causing the extreme heat. This High will be moving East this week causing our temps to increase. The Orange & Purple areas are HEAT ADVISORIES/WARNINGS for indices approaching 110

We will keep you posted…
