Hi Weather Watchers!

Just an update on what we are expecting this weekend.

Rain should begin around 6pm Statewide Saturday- A strong COLD front will be bisecting the State NE to SW. Thunderstorms will develop ahead of the front with a mix of rain and snow behind the front turning to mostly snow West of I-135 Saturday night.

Here is the track of the Low from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon:

Let’s take a look at what we look at for moisture amounts and snow totals. This takes all the model information in and gives us a median amount-

This forecasts close to an inch of moisture  in South Central KS:
This next Plume shows only around .50″ of moisture for SW KS for this storm:

The one for NE Kansas shows close to 2″:

If you are headed to KC for the game Sunday- it will be Wet and Windy- for the tail gate through the end of the game…A real mud fest.

A VERY ACTIVE PATTERN IS SETTING UP THROUGH THE FIRST WEEK OF THE NEW YEAR.

The jet stream that brought our weekend storm onto land today had 125mph gusts at the ridge lines 9-10k around Lake Tahoe- and 65mph gusts were recorded in Tahoe this afternoon along with HEAVY SNOW.

Many areas out West are under High Wind warnings and Winter Weather Advisories/Warnings.

Have a good night everyone-

PLEASE CHECK BACK IN TOMORROW AS WE WILL LIKELY ADJUST THE TRACK AND AMOUNTS OF SNOW…
