Those of you in Central KS are likely wondering, WHERE IS THE RAIN???

It looks as though we lost our lift. The storm system we had forecast for several days, with the potential for 1-2″ of rainfall in many areas has fallen apart.

Southwest KS is the only part of the State to see any beneficial rainfall.

We all thought the main piece of energy would move North out of Central OK into South Central KS – it has but the lift, which is an important and necessary piece of the puzzle, looks very sickly or weak.

You must remember this storm provided heavy flooding rainfall in Southern CA and the desert Southwest. Several Severe Thunderstorm reports and even a couple Tornado reports in AZ and New Mexico. As the storm moved out into the Southern Plains it started to weaken as it began to trek North.

Models were still showing a healthy rain shield redeveloping this afternoon.

Will we see any rainfall overnight? Likely not.

Our next decent chance of moisture for Central KS should be around Halloween.

Here is what our long range forecasting tools are thinking with today’s run.
